Thanks to the will of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the SNCF (French Railroad Company), RFF (French Rail Network) and the Department of the Alpes-Maritimes, the renovation and the electrification of the single-track line between Cannes and Grasse as well as the restoration of the station of Mouans-Sartoux and the building of a modern hall for the passengers in Grasse were made possible.

The town of Grasse, well-known all over the world for its refined fragrances and bars of soap (the Fragonard factory), as well as the town of Mouans-Sartoux will benefit from this new direct rail link to Nice. There will also be three halts at Ranguin, La Frayère and Le Bosquet on this line.

New modern electric trainsets (TER 2N NG Z 24500 - Z 26500 trains built by Alstom Transport) will be used on this new regional railway.
The Z 24500 railcar is a great evolution of the Z 23500 railcar previously
bought by the Region. It will offer better comfort to the commuters.
The commercial speed of these regional trains will be 62 mph (100 kph).
One train per hour between Cannes and Grasse is announced as early as the end of the year 2004 with the opening
of the line.
