Avignon TGV station

The station was built in the South of Avignon on an embankment in relation to the natural ground. The chosen architecture is a 400-metre construction in diagonal rib.

The North side of the building consists of a glass roof with 2,000 window panes protecting people from the Mistral and maintaining a panoramic sight of the TGV trains. In the South side of the station, a cement-glass body protects the room from the heat and the sun.

This station attracts people from a vast area around Avignon : about 1 million people from Vaison-la-Romaine in the North to Salon, Arles and Istres in the South. Avignon and its suburb represent 500,000 inhabitants. The TGV trains run from Avignon TGV nearly 40 times daily : 1.7 million travellers are expected every year in this station.

- 43.5 million distributed between S.N.C.F. (French National Railway Company) and R.F.F. (French Railway Network)

- 3.8 million for the Regional Council of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur area
