UK rail speed record for Eurostar

A Eurostar train reached the speed of 208 mph (334.7 kph) on 30 July 2003, during test runs in north Kent between Ashford and Fawkham on the new first section of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.

The previous UK rail speed record was established by the Advanced Passenger Train (APT) on 20 December 1979 with 162.2 mph (261 kph). The APT was a tilting train designed by British Rail for a quick inter-city rail service.
